Unit 3- Ideas

UNIT 3       Desree Harrison          Diversity and Equality

Both equality and diversity are keys to advance today's modern society towards being a more peaceful, joyful and meaningful entity. Equality Act specifically protects the rights of people who hold characteristics in one or more of the following groups: race, disability, sex, age, religion or belief. This act is aimed to give people a right to have the same chances and opportunities as everybody else regardless of there differences. An example of where this act is used in a workplace. A workplace could be recruiting members to add to there workplace and this act specifically defines that the organisation or company recruiting can not discriminate against potential candidates. An example of this means that the company or organisation recruiting for positions can not turn them down for the job because of there sex, disability, age, religion, race or belief. This is key to society because it gives the community and society an even chance as everyone else.  Another example of where the equality act will be enforced is in a school.

Regardless of your difference you still have the same equal chance as everybody else.

To start I had a few ideas of doing my project of racial, I thought I could show this by placing a few white books in a pile then a black one far away from them to show discrimination, but I could also place the black book with the white book to show acceptance and celebration.

Another idea was to make a paper-chain of doll and colour one in black to show celebration or to cut the black one off and place it somewhere else to show discrimination.

Still on the theme of racial, I thought this images celebrates race and equal rights, I though rein acting this of hands holding but maybe re do this as by one black person and one white person holding hands in a circle.

I still have some of my own images to put on and will be doing shortly.

These are my images.

This image is coffee and milk, which shows the colours black and white but as they are separate it shows discrimination.

This shows celebration not discrimination between black and white because the dots are all together.

This shows celebration as the black is in between all the white if I was to put the black at the end I think that would show discrimination.

Burnt toast and white bread, side by side shows celebration. This was the most fun image to create as we set off the fire alarm burning the toast. If I was to re-do this image I think I would do more pieces of bread and toast instead of one each.

Final Image

This is my final image I chose this image because I thought it was set out well. If I was to re-do this image I think I would take more time on it and add more objects into the image. For example add more colours other than black and white. there are many colours of skin so I could have added a few more cups and added different amount of milk to each cup.

Music and pictures

In this project I had to pick a song that I liked then imagine photographs that fit with the music. The I had to go out and photograph images that fit into the choice of music.

My piece of music is, Punk Rocker by  Sandi Thom, The following images are what I think fit in with the choice of music.

I chose these images because I thought the floral dress and flower in her hair looked a bit like the hippies used to look in the 70s. My original idea was having the girl with a guitar and 'peace' signs.

The nature and the stone walls I thought brought out the 70s theme more and added a more vintage feel too.

Pictures on Colour

For this project we had to pic a colour and take pictures of things that include that colour in them, I chose the colour red just because it is my favourite colour. Also
red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. It draws attention to its self and makes you want to look at it.
